Craven Complete are specialist in 1-2-1 coaching packages for triathlon. In addition to structure, we also actively coach each individual discipline (swimming, cycling and running).
Whether competing at a specific level or just participating for fun, our support can help with your journey to success.
All of our products are bespoke – prepared specifically for your needs and goal(s) you. They take into account your current level of fitness, experience and lifestyle.
The specific way an activity is performed with a ‘good technique’ suggests it is done with ease and a high degree of efficiency. Swimming, cycling and running do require an optimal technique; not just for efficiency but also for injury prevention. The specific style that is optimal for one individual to another may vary. This is due to our shape, style, age and strength. It is a motor control activity that requires repetition, often with high levels of concentration to be natural. Often it may feel a little awkward initially but will be more natural with practice.
In principle, the ability to perform an activity over a prolonged period of time and relates more to a cardiovascular and muscular base. These are the physiological mechanisms that enable us to complete an event. Saying this, technique also has a part as this is affected by fatigue; both mental and physical. The better and more natural our base technique, the less it will be affected by fatigue, and the more it will be maintained as we become fatigued. In reality, both go hand in hand together.
How well we achieve our goal and relating to the time it took, position and/or ability to complete the challenge. For those just wishing to complete, performance is personal and may not have a time/position element; and could relate to comfort. For those wishing to compete, it is about performing the activity as fast as possible. Strength and speed are the variables we consider here, however as we progress to these; technique starts to waiver and as we move on from ‘comfort’ into ‘hard’, it is harder to maintain a good technique.
Good ‘in-bred’ and natural technique, allows for improved efficiency over a distance and from which performance-based training can be applied. Poor technique suggests poor efficiency, higher energy output and increased fatigue from which performance will be highly affected.
The difference between a plan and coaching is the amount of support you receive:
COACHING PLAN – We discuss and prepare a structured route that you can follow to your chosen event. This can run over a 3, 6, 9 or 12 month period and are an estimated prediction of how you will progress through this period.
1-2-1 COACHING PACKAGES – We discuss and outline a structured route that you can follow to your chosen event. We monitor your progress and regularly adapt it to optimise your journey. The amount of support you need may vary depending on factors such as experience, time of year and goal. This can mean you can budget and pay only what you need during the course of plan. Package also offer the opportunity for 1:2:1 session with you
Depending on which plan or package you purchase you will be eligible for discounts on other services that we offer.
Support is not just provided for the physical programme but also for issues such as strength, conditioning, nutrition, tapering and event planning. This mirrors our personal training programmes but in a more sports and event-specific way.
We are able to optimise your coaching by using a team of coaches to offer appropriate advice and guidance for their field of expertise.
In addition to our 1-2-1 service, Craven Complete offers group workshops and skill academy sessions. Whilst some issues are individual to one person and require a very personalised approach, others are shared.
Our group sessions; whether face-to-face or via zoom, provide an excellent opportunity to add to your experience. Some service plans carry the opportunity to attend these sessions within their fee and at no additional cost; so adding value to them. Where a fee is necessary, we aim to keep this as low as possible.
